The meeting was opened by Secretary <strong>Mr Jaya Lopchan Tamang<\/strong> and Assistant Secretary <strong>Mrs Aashika Tamang<\/strong>, who welcomed all attendees. Chairman <strong>Mr Gopal Tamang<\/strong> then gave the opening address, setting out the agenda and the objectives of the AGM. Three committee meetings have been held since.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Major Event:<\/strong> Sonam Lhosar 2026 was celebrated successfully on 10 January 2026.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Membership Registration:<\/strong> 53 members registered to date. Anyone aged 18 and over is eligible for lifetime membership on payment of a &pound;10.00 fee. Registration is still open.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Approved Purchases:<\/strong> Damphu, chair covers, tablecloths and female cultural dress.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Donated Items Received:<\/strong> One Thee set including table (choksi), three Thee sets, and two black bins for cold drinks.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Donation:<\/strong> &pound;51.00 pledged to the BCC Kent Buddhist Organisation, to be transferred shortly.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Name Change:<\/strong> The organisation&rsquo;s name was officially changed from <strong>Kent Tamang Hyulba<\/strong> to <strong>Tamang Hyulba Kent (UK)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n\n  <h2>Sonam Lhosar 2027 Date Confirmed<\/h2>\n\n  <div class=\"thk-save\">\n    <p class=\"thk-save-date\">Saturday, 30 January 2027<\/p>\n    <p>The committee decided to celebrate <strong>Sonam Lhosar &mdash; Lhuk Lo, the Year of the Sheep<\/strong> on this date. All members agreed and were asked to work together to make the event a success. The new address will be <strong>www.tamanghyulbakentuk.com<\/strong>.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Bank Account:<\/strong> The name on the Metro Bank account will be changed from Kent Tamang Hyulba to Tamang Hyulba Kent (UK).<\/li>\n    <li><strong>New Banner:<\/strong> A new organisation banner will be produced.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Official Stamp:<\/strong> An organisation stamp and a receipt pad book will be made.<\/li>\n    <li><strong>Purchases Approved:<\/strong>\n      <ul>\n        <li>Projector, including stand and screen<\/li>\n        <li>Female cultural dress &times; 4 sets<\/li>\n        <li>Damphu &times; 2<\/li>\n        <li>Large Lungdar for the Lhosar event<\/li>\n      <\/ul>\n    <\/li>\n    <li><strong>Future Purchase:<\/strong> Five tables, if needed.<\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n\n  <h2>Preserving Tamang Identity<\/h2>\n\n  <p>Advisor <strong>Mr Kabiraj Ghising<\/strong> stated that preserving and transmitting the Tamang community&rsquo;s distinctive identity, rituals and cultural heritage is important. He emphasised the need to educate members about the <strong>Rimthim<\/strong> ritual, marriage and death ceremonies, the roles of <strong>Tanba and Ganba<\/strong>, and the traditional knowledge embedded in the Tamang way of life.
